Check the token before the token checks you.
Paste any contract address. Rug Check scans on-chain data and live DEX markets for the traps that drain wallets — honeypot code, unlocked liquidity, retained mint authority — and gives you one clear verdict. Free. No wallet connection. No sign-up.

What Rug Check actually scans
Rug Check reads the contract and the market, not the marketing. Every red flag is shown, not summarized away — you see exactly what the verdict is built on.
Mint & freeze authority
Can the dev print more tokens or freeze yours? If those keys weren't revoked, the dev still holds the trigger.
Liquidity lock status
Unlocked LP means whoever added the liquidity can pull it — the literal "rug" in rug pull.
Holder concentration
When a handful of wallets hold most of the supply, one sell can nuke the chart.
Honeypot mechanics
Some contracts let you buy but block you from selling. You don't find out until you try to exit. Rug Check finds out first.
Why rug pulls keep working
Rug pulls don't work because traders are stupid. They work because the trap is invisible at the moment you're most excited. The chart is green, the Telegram is loud, and the one thing that matters — what the contract actually permits — is buried in code most people never read.
The dev doesn't need to hack anything. They just need you to skip the thirty seconds of checking that would have shown the LP was never locked. Rug Check does that thirty seconds for you, every time, before your money moves.
How to read the verdict
Red flags found
Walk away. There is no entry good enough to justify a contract where the dev can freeze your tokens or pull the pool. The next token launches in ten minutes.
Clean
The obvious structural traps aren't present. That is all it means — not a guarantee of safety, not a price prediction, not an endorsement. Clean means “not an engineered trap.” The rest is still trading, and trading carries substantial risk.
Evidence over hype. That's the whole product.
The before-you-ape checklist
- ✓
Rug Check the contract. Thirty seconds. Free. Do it every time, even for tokens your friends shill.
- ✓
Check who holds the supply. Top-10 wallets holding half the float is a countdown, not a community.
- ✓
Confirm the LP lock. Locked for how long? A 24-hour lock is theater.
- ✓
Size like it can go to zero. Because it can. Never put in money whose loss would change your week.
- ✓
Know your exit before your entry. If you can't say when you'd sell, you're not trading — you're hoping.
Rug pull checker FAQ
What is a rug pull in crypto?
A rug pull is when a token's creators drain the project's liquidity or dump their holdings, leaving buyers with tokens they can't sell for anything close to what they paid. Common setups include unlocked liquidity pools, retained mint authority, and heavy insider supply.
How do I check if a token is a rug pull?
Paste the contract address into a rug pull checker like Rug Check. It analyzes on-chain data and live DEX markets for the structural signs — unlocked liquidity, dev mint/freeze authority, concentrated holders, and honeypot sell restrictions — and returns a clear verdict with every red flag shown.
What is a honeypot token?
A honeypot is a token whose contract lets you buy but blocks or heavily taxes selling. The chart looks healthy because nobody can sell. A honeypot checker simulates the sell path so you learn the truth before your money is trapped, not after.
Is Rug Check really free? Do I have to connect my wallet?
Yes, and no. Rug Check is free at phosphorx.com/rugcheck with no wallet connection and no sign-up. Paste an address, get a verdict. A tool that asks you to connect a wallet to "check safety" is itself a red flag.
If a token passes the rug check, is it safe to buy?
No. A clean check confirms the obvious structural traps aren't present — nothing more. Devs can still sell, hype can still collapse, and prices can still go to zero. Rug Check removes engineered traps from the equation; it doesn't remove market risk. All trading involves substantial risk of loss.
Rug Check tells you what to avoid. It doesn't tell you what's worth a look — that's a harder problem, and it's what PhosphorX Elite is built for: agent-reviewed signals with a public track record, reported net of costs, losses included. We publish the losers because a track record without them isn't a track record, it's an ad.
